The Intern follows Alec, a quiet but talented engineering intern beginning his first day at one of the world’s most advanced research facilities.
Hidden deep beneath the surface, the complex is home to experimental technologies and highly classified research conducted by the powerful corporation 4D Industries.
But when a mysterious incident triggers a sudden facility-wide lockdown, Alec finds himself trapped deep inside the sprawling underground complex.
Out of his depth and searching for a way out, Alec stumbles upon a prototype EXO Suit — an advanced machine built for environments far beyond human limits.
In a moment of desperation (and perhaps a little curiosity), he uploads a small experimental AI he’s been developing onto the suit’s systems, giving it a personality of its own.
Now equipped with the EXO Suit and guided by its newly awakened AI, Alec must navigate the collapsing facility, uncover the truth behind the disaster, and find a way to escape… and maybe save the world in the process.

At the heart of The Intern is the experimental EXO Suit — a powerful piece of advanced technology designed to operate in environments too dangerous for humans alone.
Enhancing strength, mobility, and survivability, the suit allows Alec to navigate the collapsing facility, overcome physical obstacles, and survive encounters that would otherwise be impossible.
But the suit is more than just machinery.
After uploading his own experimental AI into the system, Alec gives the EXO Suit something it was never designed to have — a personality.
Together, Alec and the suit’s newly awakened AI must learn to work as one, combining human instinct with machine precision to survive the chaos unfolding within the facility.
Because sometimes the difference between survival…and disaster…is who, or what, is inside the machine.

Hidden deep within a dormant volcanic mountain, the research facility operated by
4D Industries was once a classified military installation, repurposed to house some of the world’s most advanced scientific experiments.
Over time the complex has expanded into a vast underground network of laboratories, industrial systems, and experimental technologies — a place where cutting-edge research pushes the boundaries of what should be possible.
But something has gone terribly wrong.
Emergency systems have sealed entire sections of the base, security forces have been activated, and the deeper Alec ventures into the facility, the more unsettling the situation becomes.
From high-tech laboratories and industrial machinery to forgotten maintenance tunnels and restricted experimental zones, every part of the complex hides clues about what happened… and what might still be lurking within.
Exploration, survival, and discovery are key to uncovering the truth behind the disaster.

In The Intern, players step into a world built around real-time physics and physical interaction.
Nearly everything in the environment behaves the way you would expect it to in the real world. Objects have weight, momentum, and presence, allowing players to interact with the environment in ways that feel natural and intuitive in virtual reality.
Push objects aside, grab tools and weapons, climb over obstacles, or improvise solutions using whatever you can find in the facility around you.
From combat encounters to environmental puzzles, the world reacts to your actions — creating moments that feel unscripted, dynamic, and deeply immersive.
Every corridor, laboratory, and mechanical system inside the facility has been designed to feel like a real place you can explore, survive, and interact with.

The Intern has been designed from the ground up for high-end virtual reality hardware, launching on PlayStation VR2 and PCVR, with standalone platforms planned to follow.
By focusing on powerful VR systems first, our team has been able to push visual fidelity far beyond what is typically possible in virtual reality.
From highly detailed environments and dynamic lighting to atmospheric effects and large-scale spaces, every part of the facility has been crafted to feel believable and immersive in virtual reality.
Achieving the right balance between performance and visual quality has been one of the project’s greatest challenges, but it has also allowed us to build a world that feels rich, atmospheric, and alive.
We can’t wait for players to step inside the facility and experience it for themselves.

Music plays a vital role in shaping the atmosphere of The Intern, helping to build tension, emotion, and immersion throughout the experience.
To bring the world of the game to life, we partnered with electronic music duo Eat The Sun to create a powerful original soundtrack designed specifically for virtual reality.
Their music blends atmospheric soundscapes with driving electronic energy, amplifying the intensity of exploration, combat, and the unfolding mystery within the facility.
We can’t wait for players to experience the game with their incredible score.
